The Living And The Dead… Can They Co-exist?

Award winning Production Designer Mark Scruton (@markscrutondesign) has collaborated with Tim Burton on his much-anticipated sequel #BeetlejuiceBeetlejuice, coming to cinemas on 6 September. The pair recently worked together on Burton’s Netflix series #Wednesday and have joined forces again for the long-awaited film starring Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe.

Like the original movie, the film is set in the fictional town of Winter River but uses real town of East Corinth, Vermont as its location. Shop fronts were repurposed for exterior shots and in a spectacular post-funeral scene, Mark and the production team re-built the Deetz’s house on a hillside overlooking the town using a Gothic façade, draped in black to represent the house itself in mourning.
