New Lotto tears at the heart strings!!

The new Lotto commercial appearing on our screens is a tear-jerker to be sure – designed by Art Departments Niamh Coulter with help from Propmaster Aaron Batterham and shot in a variety of locations in Scotland and on boats in the North Atlantic it tells the story of a lottery win that changes the lives of a young family. Directed by Smugglers Mark Molloy Niamh has this say about her experience “The challenge primarily was of being over an hour north of Aberdeen in fairly remote areas without easy access to, well anything really!  We were spread across the towns of Fraserburgh and McDuff, about 30 miles apart with the crew scattered and billeted all over the place. The shooting crew were on spilt days, the dressing crew on straight days so inevitably I was on both and shuttling between crews all day to keep pots on the boil.  Lovely Glasgow/London crew and absolutely delightful director and production made it all bearable but it was a slog.  Worth it though, I think we made something rather nice. The wrap party was held in the location House, with a folk band and bagpipe players and.. well, let’s just say it was quite the party!!”

Gold for VW!!

Art Departments Production Designer John Bramble designed the VW “The Button” which won the Gold Award for Best Production Design at this weeks British Arrow Craft Awards. Directed by Independents Gary Freedman it was a challenging effort with the production being collaborated here and in Kiev along with respected local art director Vova Radlinskiy who’s talented team built some very fine sets and dressed locations on the ground.

Art Director Grant Bailey worked alongside John here in the UK designing the sets which John then oversaw in Kiev with the shoot being covered by Ricky Eyres – so a big team effort all round for a great outcome which also saw the piece collect the Gold for Best Costume and Original Score.

Never Mind The B*llocks – here come The Sex Pistols!!

Currently presenting with most papers as pick of the week on Sky Arts, this Thursday 31st May, and as part of the ‘Urban Myths’ strand is the Comedy Drama, “The Sex Pistols v Bill Grundy” set-decorated by our own special CHEEKY, here’s what she had to say about the project.

“I had such fun working on this programme and I remember watching this infamous interview on the telly when I was eleven years old. I happen to know The Sex Pistols drummer, Paul Cook, so my Designer (Amanda Bernstein ) and I met him for lunch and he gave us some great inside information on what the Green Room was like, what ciggies they smoked, what they drank, what the nibbles where etc.  Amanda was also an original Punk and had worked at the shop ‘BOY’ and had lots of old photos.“

Keep a close eye out for CHEEKY, she has a cameo in the programme, playing Veronica, a disgruntled member of the public.

The Director was Simon Delaney and the writer was Simon Nye.
