‘Oba’ Selected As Part of BIFA’s Best British Short Film Longlist

We’re thrilled to announce that Femi “Ladi” Oladigbolu’s exceptional short ‘Oba’ has been included in BIFA’s 2023 Best British Short Film longlist. Chosen by BIFA voters from a selection of over 300 entries and featuring Production Design from Jakob Gierse, ‘Oba’ meaning ‘King’ in Yoruba, explores a reimagined future following the death of the King of Oyo. In the search for the next ascension to the throne, an unsuspecting young man from South East London is selected as the new Oba, further immersing us into an incredibly arresting, culturally rich, Afrofuturist homage to Yoruba diaspora and the experience of Black British men.
