Toni Child

Constantly curious and ceaselessly creative with infectious enthusiasm and a passion for colour, pattern and detail, Toni was born to work in Set Decoration. What sets Toni apart is her academic background in Design and the career path that has led her to the Art Department.

Her degree from Goldsmiths combined conceptual thinking with semiotic studies and design history, alongside training in practical skills; these include research and referencing, concept and three dimensional design. Having gained over a decade’s experience of sourcing antiques across the UK and Europe and has also worked as a Visual Merchandiser, prop-maker and prop-house manager. 

Toni has so far worked in Poland, Belgium and France and relishes any opportunity to submerse herself in new cultures and communities in order to create connections and uncover new sources. She thrives on collaboration and most especially enjoys the challenge to create worlds far from the norm and has experience across a range of periods and genres/locations from shanty-towns to spaceships. With a talent for ingenuity and making-do, she never fails to make magic where there often is none.
